Just bamboo! The Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridge

Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridge was one of the quick stops in our Bohol countryside daytour and getting the ‘hang’ of this hanging bridge was quite an experience. There isn’t much to do here except cross the bridge and take a quick rest at the end but it’s worth visiting anyway.

The Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridge or known for its other name, Tigbao Hanging Bridge, is a pair of 40-meter long bamboo bridges that hang 25 meters from Loboc River. They were built to connect two baranggays (villages) as locals would go down the river and ride a boat to reach the road on the other side.

There’s an entrance fee for you to be able to cross the bridges. Fee is at P35.

I have to be honest, there isn’t much to do here. I guess it’s included as part of the daytour package because some people may find it an exciting experience to cross a bamboo hanging bridge that seemingly looks fragile (it isn’t!). It’s common for locals to cross this bridge but tourists may find it a fun experience.

SOUVENIR SHOP

There’s nothing to see at the end of the bridges except a souvenir shop. I advise you to buy the merchandise here because they offer the cheapest price.

TAKE A QUICK REST

If you’ve been tired during your daytour, can take a quick rest at the end of the bridge. Just note that you have to wear rubber shoes or sneakers as the bamboo bridge can get slippery during rainy days.

Sipatan provides an instagrammable backdrop for taking photos with the jade-colored river and lush green scenery.

BY LAND

The Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridges are located about 31 kilometers from Tagbilaran City. You may rent a motorbike in Tagbilaran for P300-500 ($6-10) per day. There are also car rentals available in the city.

In Tagbilaran, take a tricyle to Tagbilaran Bus Terminal. There are buses or jeepneys going to Sipatan. Take those that pass by the Loay interior road. If you’re taking public transportation, make sure to get off at Barangay Poblacion.

Hanging bridges are not common anymore so crossing the Sipatan Hanging Bridge (or Tigbao Hanging Bridge) can be a unique experience for tourists. The thrill sets in when there are quite a number of people who cross the bridge all at the same time. Don’t forget to wear the proper footwear during rainy season as the bamboo platform can be slippery when wet.
