Only a thirty-minute habal ride from the center of the small town of Santa Maria, Davao Occidental, there is a kilometer-long strip of white sand beach that is waiting to be discovered by beach lovers. It’s called Colagsing.
When I got there, Colagsing didn’t disappoint. I went there on a Sunday and there were only one family occupying a cottage and at the other cottage was a young couple. Just great! It was a quiet place, nothing fancy. I didn’t plan to stay overnight so I just paid the entrance fee of P35 and off to the water I went. Take note, the sand was white, the water was clean but I got there before noon so it was low tide and the staff said, I had to be careful of the sea urchin along the boundary of the resort.

Beside the resort were undeveloped beachfronts where communities of fishermen live. I walked towards the area and I didn’t see any other tourist which was the best part of that trip. Not even locals were as visible except for a group of children on their way to the other side of the beach.
If you want a new beach to discover, go to Colagsing. It will not disappoint.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM DAVAO CITY
1. Ride a bus at Ecoland Terminal, bus directly going Santa Maria or any bus that will make a stopover (e.g. Malita). Fare: P1422. Alight at Santa Maria terminal. There are habal (single motor) drivers there. Tell them you’re going to Colagsing. Travel time is 30 minutes. Tell him to wait for you becuse there’s no public transportation going back to the terminal. Fare roundtrip: P300 (good for two).
